Climate Control - AC Swap

Climate Control - AC Swap

It must be tax season again if I'm scouring the Solaraguy Forum looking for threads to keep me entertained. Anyway, the point of this post is...I recently bought an 04 Climate Control console on eBay and was wondering how involved the swap would be. I tried searching the forums but I wasn't able to find anything seeing as how the search function is pretty fubar. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about making the swap from an analouge to digital climate control? If so, good luck, your missing the ambient air temp sensor required and the plug is different. At some point i'm going to map out all the wiring to see what is needed, but that won't be anytime soon.

SMAN is correct
it has been discussed before somewhere but if u want to go from the nobs to the auto (with the buttons) ur gonna need to to a bit of wiring and some parts as he explained above

i also remember earlier thread regarding this when another member wanted to do this swap but the general consensus was against it simply because the auto climate controls never seem to get the temperature right (i mean how do u know what 76 degrees really feels like). IMO just stick with the knobs, it's faster and more convenient...hell even bmws are going back to that method nowadays

Ha...I ended up bidding on it with a couple of days left. My bid was $25 and I won. The one time I wish I was outbid. Oh well, so I have another piece sitting in my garage. It'll just go in the pile of stock Solara parts.

I do need to start saving up for coilovers or a carputer. Maybe I'll get something with that hefty Tax Rebate!
