Interior mod (pics)

Postby SolaraMan7890 » Sun Feb 24, 2008 9:50 pm

I can do that... and spend $400+ ...or I can save that money. hahahahaah... no but really.. this sounds too expensive, and if it was for a treasure of a car it would be worth it... but as much as i love my lara, she doesn't quite earn that kind of cash, for an interior mod.

How much do you think it would cost to stretch black leather-type material over the dashboard and top of the windows? plus labor and all.

Mehh. to each their own..
not bad I guess, but if it were up to me.. I'd keep my interior short and simple ...
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Black is not exactly what I was referring to. Yours looks great.

Just wondering, why would you paint something black when it already comes in black?

One's a glossy black, while the other isn't?

the biggest thing for me that looks wrong with that interior is the seats dont flow well at all, along with the steering wheel. If those were a consistent color or done a little better it wouldnt be half bad...

By the way, what's that shifter? It's auto, but does anyone know where one can get one of these shifters?

Because it wasn't black. It had wood trim. I have the SLE Solara. So I painted the center peice and shifter gate black and pulled the trim around the vents and such.

For the shifter Question, our shifters have OD button on it , so i dont think it would be easy to replace it with another type of shifter

Many places sell them. Just make sure you get the version with the overdrive button. My '89 Corolla had an OBX knob w/ OD button on it when I got it. I have no idea what all is involved in installing one, but they are out there.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Put it this way. You get into your car every day. your butt rubs against your seats.. Sometime you clean your interior and rub it over your dash... If you use paint then over a matter of months your car will be even uglier now..

There goes 50 bucks on paint and now you can't get girls because they think you pooh all over your interior when its just paint.

You spend 400 bucks and get it done right... Last for ever if you take care of it.

Gotta pay to play.

Ah gotcha! Couldn't you have peeled the wood trim off the center console too? Is all that extra wood a option you can get with the solara from the dealership? Because I test drove a sle back in the day of getting a solara and it didnt have that wood trim. It was like my car.

What I meant to say is that for a car like the Solara, i would just leave it alone the way it is rather than spending 400 on a dashboard color change.

hahaha i'll get girls even if i'm taking the bus and riding a bike. hahahhaaha
