Tail light tint.

Tail light tint.

Postby SolaraMan7890 » Sun Feb 24, 2008 8:30 am

Hey guys, I was bored and I was looking at some Solaras on cardomain, and I saw one that really interested me. It had the tail lights tined, to pretty much the same color of the car, and the person left the clear, reverse and turning signal part untinted. It looks quite nice, and I am looking to do the same thing, I just don't know where I can get my Tail light tint. Any suggestions

Yeah back when I worked on this project I was looking at that guy's page too. Probably one of the best I've seen. Most people tape the reverse area and spray it with tint as opposed to film. Check out eBay or Google VHT Niteshades or JDP Paint.

I'd hop on that deal with Latin and save yourself the time and hassle.

Latin, What are you using for tinting the lights? And I wonder what the other guy is using too. Window tint is not conformable like it would need to be to 'wrap' the lens. Looks great but I'm wondering if he just used black vinyl. Nothing wrong with that but it's not an actual tint. Kinda hard to tell from the pics.

How does the break light look when it's on? I realize that it's not as bright, so you would see just the bulb as it would not be the same effect because of the tint. Like you know how on G35's when you tint those tail lights, it looks good because of the LED formation, but we have single bulbs, does it still look good?

Thank you for the welcoming. Haha I've been looking at this forum for a long time but always had registration problems, until i finally just made a new email address.

Oh and I would def be interested in purchasing these from you. I just have a couple of questions regarding the removal of the tail light, and payment.

ALSO if anyone has a pair of black housed headlights, (just the headlights, not the turning signal part) PM me plz.

youre asking the same questions i asked 2 years ago..try the search button. before the Solaraguy grapas wake up and start flaming you..theres a few out there.

join the solaraguy cardomain group for eazy access to other solara pics.

theres 5 10mm nuts that hold the tail in, youl need to pop out the blanck plastic liner 1st.
i used VHT nite shades translucent spray its specially made to allow light thru Dr Love up graded the Bulb to give more light output ofcouse Not as bright as a an LED or and newer G35,,but looks fine just ask other members here. 8)

You can find the taillight tint on ebay it's called VHT Niteshades but it would be alot easier to but a set from LatinUSMC.

Hey Latin, Since it's a spray have you thought about having some vinyl patterns cut maybe like a tribal band or name for instance, putting that on where you're spraying, then after it's dry peeling it back off so the original lens shows. I've never used the spray tint so I'm not sure how it would work, but if it worked without pulling the tint back off with it at the edges of the vinyl, that would be a killer way for a personalized touch on your sled.

Somebody said my name? 8) lol

Yesterday I took the gf's Sunfire, and she tooks my car, just to see how bright it looks at night. I can tell that at night they are enough bright, no problem at all to see the car taillight or turn signal. For sure it look dim compare to stock taillight, don't expect that it will look the same with black taillights, mine looks about 50% less bright.

With the 3rd LED strip on the spoiler it's safer, I would not tint it.

When it wil be warmer here, Im gonna try the 1,5W LED that I received, it will make the brake lights looks great, it will light up fast as the 3rd brake light do, and it will make it looks a bit like new car taillights with LED.

to be hones thyre a Biiiatch to spray w/o getting the clear piece even thought its 120 shipped, considering each tail takes roughly 5hrs (not counting over night drying per coat) and the using Q-tips to wipe down the clear part and finally carnuba wax, and then pack for shipping...there is No profit. Really maybe 5 bucks..thats why im gonna do a tutorial so Yall can buy a bottle of advil for the stress involved in getting a set.. so you guys can value my hard work 8) 8) :-? :-? :P :P          8)
