our reverse lights suck

our reverse lights suck

Postby philosophicaljt » Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:09 am

I am trying to find a way to improve my reverse bulbs, brightness. Its a 921 bulb, which can be replaced by a 912 bulb also.

I am thinking of buying reverse lamps from PIAA and installing them under the car so that you can't see them unless you drive a miata or are under my car.

Has anyone done anything to improve the light output? Or am I just crazy? The design on these bulbs, is horrible. The light shines almost upwards.

With my swap to the 07 tail lights, i'm using the blinker spot as a backup light. It takes a higher wattage bulb than before, plus the light distrobution is very even and i can see great outside. Consider doing the swap.

I can't afford the swap. Doesn't anyone else think the stock reverse lights suck?

I can't afford the swap. I've already stated that. Plus, the gen2.5 tail's reverse lights aren't that much brighter, by my eyes. What makes you guys think they are brighter?

Anyone alse have the problem? It just seem's like our reverse bulb is really aimed poorly and isn't a high enough wattage.

Cause were not using the gen 2.5 backup lights, were using the blinkers as backup lights, and those take a higher wattage bulb than the gen2.5 backup lights, and the opticks are better to spread.

If budget is a problem,
get those 6~9 LED flash light ($20) at home depot or something
and tape it wherever you want the light to be at~
it's affordable, safe, and easy installation :)

194 led buls will do the trick. 4 led bulds though that's what i had before i go the 07tailights i had blue and were really noticiable. 11.99 was what i paid if i remeber corectly, i currently ave them on my licsense plate and they light up the floor.

I'm telling you guys the led bulbs will not work, it's only for looks. They shine light only at a single direction which is straight out of the tail light and it does not do any good.
