I find that if I use the "fresh air" position as opposed to the "recirculating air" position, I can use the defroster WITHOUT the A\C being on and successfully maintain a fog-free car.

I actually bought a set about two years ago for my solara and never put them on they are still in the box. After looking at the instructions and holding them in place to see what they would look like n the car I changed my mind. They actually go on with double sided tape but the reason I didn't like the look was that they cover part of the chrome trim 'around the window. If you want them I'll sell you mine for $25 and I don't know what part of NJ your in but depending in the distance you can pick them up, so you don't waste as much as I did ($50)

That's what i was thinking when I ordered them but like I said they go on the chrome trim on the car around the window and yes the door does still work fine and it doesn't hit on the window or anything. I just don't like the way they look on because they cover part of of the chrome.

I get that you can install them without making contact with the top of the window, but you then lose the functionality/purpose of having them in the first place.....think about it.
traditionally they are supposed to hang over the window a little bit so that you can crack the window open and be protected from rain and such....but to get them on a car that has no window frame on the door, they then would have to be installed too high on the car

umm....not to be a dick, but you put them above the window, its only obvious...i had them on my car, and they look pretty clean...the only reason why i took them off is because i cracked one side it leaning on it..i believe larry had a set a too on his black solara too...and they do work well in the rain..

Again....they need to be installed high enough so that when you open the door with the window all the way up so it doesnt interefere.......
If you look at most cars that have these visors, they are installed hanging over the window to essentially create a little safe spot where you can open the window an inch or 2 and be totally safe from rain/snow to smoke a cigarette/joint! .....And if you install them on our precious Solara, you lose that effect and IMO, the major purpose of these window visors!
