Ever heard of these for 04 and up tail lights?

Hey all,

I am lookin to smoke my tail lights. Love the look, especially on a silver car. I found these while searching around to buy film. Anybody know if there is a difference between this and regualr film?

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home_n.asp?dir=detail&id=3000

If you enter the make and model toyota solara 04 and up is available.

although if you go here on the same site there is no solara 04 and up available

If this doesnt work im gonna follow sebas007's lead and get them from instyle graphics cuz i ordered custom eyelids for my silver and they came out great.

cheers

I smoked mine with different film.

that film is really thin and it will rip when you are installing it, especially where our tail-light bubbles.

plus that film gives purplish look rather than smoke (black) look.

Nothing else can beat a good smoking film than a real profesionnal paint job. Spray not doing a nice job when you will close to the car.

I would go with the film all the way !! I use the same as Sean (kpxboi0619). He is the guy that hook me up to this product ! :)

Why am I wrong? Out of every spray I have used, the VHT works amazingly well. and its very easy to control.

True - ONLY on the Gen 2.5 tails though... prev. Gen 2 tails have that bump making it nearly impossible to get a good fitment of the film on the surface! ;)

Jeff (PXL) is correct on this, because of this stupid bump I cannot stick the film without having air bubbles.....and I tried so many times  so I would suggest to get 2.5 tails... and have it film.

you just need to heat shrink the film to the tailights. Its not that hard. Have a heat gun or a steamer?

its probably harder than it looks....even diong the 2.5 tails seemed to be a bit difficult according to some....i think sebas had his friend help so there were 4 hands istead of two....
unless uve done them to ur gen 2 tails and thought it was easy....then i dont know....but its probably much harder than it looks

Have you done this personally? I'd like to see a successful finished product to support this. So far, I haven't yet.

Jeff you mean you never see a smoked taillights from him or from anybody on here (Gen 2+ side) ? Because Sean (kpxboi0619) and myself have our tails smoked. He even has Gen 2 but he let the pros at InStyleGraphics

I've seen Sean's in person - and they didn't look very good. He had a lot of problems because of the Gen 2 tail "bump" - THAT'S what I'm referring to... applying film to an uneven surface. The material has to go somewhere - it's not like it's vacuum formed or anything, so it's going to pinch, buckle or bubble.

So IF someone has successfully film-tinted their Gen 2 (2004-2006) tails, I'd like to see it, and perhaps they could share their techniques for getting it done properly. ;)
