As some of you may know, I've been having problems with my SAFC 2; connecting the a/f wires from the SAFC 2 boggs down the car and it goes no where, so I've totally taken the SAFC 2 out of the equation.

I haven't talked to Apex about a direct replacement for the SAFC 2, but once I find out this weekend if my troubleshooting idea's get me no where to fix this problem and I do have to buy another one, I was looking at the AFC Neo. Looks like it does everything the SAFC 2 does, with better additional features, plus the VTEC addition (which I won't use, obviously).

Wondering if people out there have had any experience with this system? Is the tuning almost the same as the SAFC 2? what about wiring to the ECU, the same? I could only find one thread about it and that was back in '02 and I don't think the guy is still a member (with only 200+ posts since then).

hey, gl on ur situation, but i gotta tell u this, contact tuners in ur area of they are familiar with the NEO rather than the safcII...

and get whatever system ur tuners can tune efficitently...

a good tune on a safcII is better than an OKAY tune on a neo...u get wat im saying?

I hear what ur saying Dawgz...problem is, is that there's hardly any tuner shops in AL. I might just have to go back to NC to get a decent tune by someone I know who knows my car.

^^^I understand that with the Neo the a/f trims can be tuned by smaller increments, but did he say anything if the actual layout of adjusting the % of correction is different? Reason why I'm asking is to see if I can use the Neo with the % correction I have from the SAFC 2 until I can get it dyno'd again using the smaller increments. I would think it would be.....just curious, thanks Damon.

^ i wouldnt risk using settings from a diffrent unit on a newer one that might have a diffrent calibration.

just run it as is untuned, dont mash on it, and wait till u get a tune bro?

Well, I purchased the AFC Neo...a lot better system and not that hard to get around at all. The display is kicka$$. I was able to use the same figures from the SAFC 2 for the tune and just took an estimated guess on the A/F correction when the RPM increments didn't coincide.

BUT...she's still bogging down! No CEL thus far, but still have the same mechanical results. I'm waiting on a buddy of mine to get his mobile dyno up and running, but other than that, I am officially out of idea's!! The safc 2 was not bad after all. Anybody got another idea?
