UPDATE: Ugh I shouldn't have taken it to the damn dealership. They repainted the QP and the door, and the paint is not even close to matching. He claimed it was because there is a new layer of clearcoat compared to the old one being faded, which is BS because I had that same door painted just 6 months ago and it came out perfect. So they are repainting it again, along with my FRONT fender now to try and blend it. Hopefully it turns out ok. If it doesn't, what should I do? Will the insurance pay for a full repaint? Can I contact Toyota about it (this place is supposed to be Toyota Certified)? Argghhh.

i was waitin in line in a parkin deck and this lady started backin up with her truck. there were cars in front of me so i couldnt move and i kept honkin at her. apparently she didnt hear me and bam there u go. ford f150 bumper right into my poor QP. luckily cops came and she had insurance and i gotta go pick up the police report on friday. it was private property so she didnt get a ticket, but im really hoping her insurance will cover it. any chance they wont?

that's seriously a crappy feeling when u see the other car coming and u know its bout to hit you and theres nothing you can do about it. then all of a sudden, CRUNCH. happened last year too when the guy rolled backwards into me at a traffic light.

Thats a pain to repair. GL

I use to work at a car repair shop. The dent itself is not bad but where the door curve area is sucks balls to straighten out.

you think they will just replace the panel?

p.s. are you referring to picture 4 about the 'door curve' part

That Darn Curse
i just got mine fixed 2 months ago...

heres a few useful tips:

1.go to a body shop the insurance company recommends so if you need to go back and get some thing that got missed later you have no issues/problems.(if they make a mistake at the body shop with electric or paint not matching the rest of the car you have the right to take it back)

2.try to meet with the adjuster when he will be doing the initial inspection so You can balk' if he tries to "short change" you on the estimate(remember their job it try to save the insurance co as much as possible not you)

3. also tell the body shop guy to wipe the edge where the kit sticks to the car with alcohol, if they dont, the kit will fall of a week after they return it to you.

4. remember that you are eligible to be compensated for the "stress" and neck pain the jolt from the accident has caused you , wealthy people do it all the time after they are adviced by their lawyer to go get checked as a precaution. my insurance company sent me a 1000 check for massage and chiropractor expenses..$$ its nothing other than a normal insurance transaction.. that accident hurt you and its affecting your normal way of life and costing you extra time and effort.....so get reimbursed or compensated fairly. 8) its the american way.

pm me if you need any more info

Oh no. Thats too bad.

I'm starting to believe that there may actually be a silver curse.

Thats about the 6th or 7th one that I know of.

Good luck with the repairs. I hope it all works out for you.

i have a guy that i went to for my last repair of my hood, bumper, and door, and he did a damn good job so i'll trust him for this one too. i dont think i can claim injury or whatever since i was stopped in the lot and she hit me at like 3mph, lol. i would rather be honest anyways.

but what i was thinking of asking for is some money for depreciation because this is going to be considered as a pretty hefty collision, so when it comes time to sell it will drop the value. do they compensate for things like that?

i may also hit them up just for the inconvenience (lost time and the 'tutoring' i required to make up lost hours of med school) and a rental car, although i doubt theyll give in. honestly as long as they pay for the repair and hopefully a rental in the meantime im happy. ive got bigger fish to fry nowadays.

hey guys, a bit of an update. the other party's adjuster came out and estimated 1260 for the repair, thats factoring in that the panel is repaired and not replaced. to me it doesnt really look like it can be replaced, but i guess the shop will see. i asked in regard to depreciation and he offered me only 200 which doesnt seem like that much considering that this will count as a major accident. what should i do?

get two more estimates and try to get him to raise his payout price..
or even better go thru Your insurance & adjuster and have youre insurance bill them.. by subbrogation...thats what i did.
you dont have to hassle with their people..thats why you have your insurance. :P :P
or you can stay "honest" and get "swept-up" by the system that is et up to F u over" remember the insurance co never losses.

well i asked my company about that, but they said i would have to pay my deductible up front, then they would pay for the rest, and then they would go after the other company for the money. doesnt really seem like a surefire way to me. he wrote his own estimate already based on the damage he saw, but i only have one other quote right now including replacement of the panel and that came out to around $2100. i guess i can call him tomorrow and present it to him.

i beleive its either 500 or 1000, neither of which i have avaialbe to spend right now. plus if the other ins. company denies it then the claim is on me and my rates go up.

That's messed up man.
Get an estimate from the body shop that you trust, and then see if the estimate from the other party insurance company is about the same or higher, if higher go wit the flow if the other party insurance estimate is higher.
