Rearview Camera anyone?

Rearview Camera anyone?

Postby Erico » Wed Jan 23, 2008 7:31 pm

Hello

Has anybody installed a rearveiw camera?
I need one fast.

I'm inclined to install the monitor on the sun visor, replacing the original one and installing a licence plate mounted camera.

Is it worth it
?
My other car is a LC1500 Suzuki Cruiser

I have an X|O Vision backup camera on my car wired into my aftermarket Valor unit...it was like $50 as an aftermarket upgrade...wish i went with the nightvision though...plus i get condensation from the rain :/

and whether you get a visor or not YES its worth it. especially with the coupes poor rear visibility.

I have it. and I love mine. especially with tinted windows in the freezing winter, I dont have to stick my head out to reverse at night. To me it's invaluable and very well worth it.

right above the license plate, Im doin a retro with mine later on and sticking it in the trunk keyhole, I will then have a trunk popper for my trunk later..
Dont get the license plate camera, those suck. I got mine even though while bulky , the audiovox one I have that you can find at circuitcity/best buy does a great job.
Or if you got some more money, get the Eclipse camera, those are really good and is what I will be using next.

and to post up pics in your sig, you need this

or if you have photobucket it'll give you a link under the pic to put here. just make sure you have it sized up correctly so it doesn't end up looking way too big and out of proportion.

that's the trouble!
most ppl install in on license plate, or attach on the bumper above the license plate
but, i don't think those r good place on solara.
it looks really bulky...

On Gen2s, I think mounting it behind the license plate is a great idea. The area behind the plate is open to fit a camera in there. Access to the camera is two or four screws on the plate. And best of all, there's no permenant hole in your body.

If you don't mind permanent attachment, this is how I did it, nice and flush. Man, if only my wife had gotten a black Solara it would've looked much better. I didn't like license plate idea because people could come and rip it off. When we got my wife her Lexus, the dealers there thought it was factory or something...

I'll appreciate your help. I'll be waiting 4 the pictures.
I'd just hate to drill the car and don't want the licence camera.
Thanks
