This only took 1.5 hours to do.

1. Take off grille
2. Sand grille
3. Prime grille
4. Paint grille
5. Reinstall

My toyota emblem was pretty hard to remove, I don't know if it was easy for other people here ,maybe I didn't use the right tool! But I did and kept the old emblem for my new grill.

I live in Canada (quebec), if somebody needs an old grill (chrome peelling, but not broken at all) to do a grill mod, I can sell mine for cheap. I don't need it now. Just in case.

is it just held on by adhesive or are the pins holding it in too?

the front emblem is held on by adhesive/glue

the pins are just there to line up the emblem properly.

i know because i had a front end ....ahem.... incident, which required me to replace the front grill (good riddance to the chipped chrome anyway).

but the emblems come with an adhesive backing, which is peeled off before applying.

use goo-gone, it should do the trick...just let it soak thoroughly before attempting to peel off, otherwise the emblem may contort/bend or possibly break/crack. if you're going to reuse it for the new grill, then just get some double sided 3m tape, and use that sparingly to keep the emblem on.

*EDITED TO REMOVE THE LONG LINK*

I paid $220 from the dealer for a new chrome grill, this seem to be a great deal if the quality is good. FOr somebody who wants to keep the stock look of the car.

No worries; if anything, it costs that much to send out your grill to be chromed, so your car would be a toothless crack ho for 2 weeks for roughly the same price... Trust me, I wanted one way before they offered it on eBay (I even tried chrome spray paint... FAIL)!

Then I got a Renova and slapped a Toyota logo on it anyway 8) .
