clutch Question ? anyone ?

I have a Fidanza flywheel , spec stage 2 clutch . and this only happens to me when in heavy traffic , is this common or should I loook into this more closely ,

Here is what happen , driving in traffic offcourse , I come to a complete stop, starting up in 1st gear all good when Im about to shift to second my shifter locks and I can't get out of 1st and I have to force it out and sometimes it doesen't shift out. I then come to stop and start again in first and change to 2nd right away . then im cruising in 2nd and that one locks on me and I can't go into 3rd at this point im like what the f*(* ...

I haven't check my fluid under the hood but im positive that is not it .
could it be gear oil not sure I have never changed that since I own my car and when I got the new clutch installed I didn't ask if that got change .

or can my shifter joints need to be lube .....

and last possible cause clucth is on its final stages and should start looking for a new one .

so is this the downside of having a lighweight flywheel ...Im starting to wonder ...should I go back to stock or try another brand ....

HAS anyone experience this thing with similar setup as mines ...

Are you engaging the clutch all the way down?

I did experience the same but not with a toyota, my car started shifting hard, grinding, whenever you would shift, no matter how hard or soft you would throw the gears in. I needed a new tranny.

Hermano, I think its the clutch, but I would take it in to a shop.

if the clutch is all the way down, then I would say that it's possibly the tranny....is it only 1st and 2nd that does that? or all the gears?

My friend thinks it might be the that the pressure plate isen't aligned right

could this be a positive cause

it only happens on 1st and 2nd gear and under constant stop and go traffic

not sure...at this point, only a transmission shop may be able to fully diagnose the problem. otherwise, you'll have to pull it to see...

and the pressure plate can't be misaligned...it's bolted down in place...if somehow it came loose, you're in more trouble than even this may suggest...but I doubt that is the case

Hmmm..... Kinda sounds like my post last month... http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... 31826a01ed

What happened to my SPEC Stage 2 Clutch was that a spring from the disc popped out so there was constant contact between the disc and the pressure plate so whenever i pressed on the clutch pedal it wouldn't disengage. Ended up getting a new clutch after all... Keep us posted i'll post pics of my clutch later tonight.

Yep I went back to "stock" clutch not OEM Toyota but it sure ass hell was OEM feel... Really really REALLY soft! took me a while to adjust from a really solid clutch like SPEC to the OEM feel one. NE ways... heres the pics i promised

The missing spring should be obvious...

They did not warrant that? Looks like bad quality piece there.

That ought to be covered, I'd call and find out. Maybe you can get some if not all of your money back. When it comes to clutches, IMO, I prefer the OEM clutch. Simply because it is easier to drive (for me at least since I don't drive standard everyday) and it will generally last longer. Just my 2 cents

shoot, i've experienced the same symptoms with OEM and upgraded clutch that I figured it was the tranny. I've been waiting for it to die (or win the lottery) to get a new tranny.

So are there bigger/better tranny's that fir our rides? (I have a 99 SE V6)... this is something I had not researched before, sorry -- busy man here!! lol
