Spring Spacer on a lowered Solara

Hey all,

My new apartment complex has giant speed bumps that I'm bottoming out on like every day. I'm with a school program, so I'm stuck here, but besides the speed bumps it's pretty nice.

I've been looking into risers or something for my TRD lowering springs. I'm wondering if this is a safe thing to do, if it will be effective, and how much does the install usually run? Has anyone done this? Can the average shop get these pretty quickly?

I've been looking at these, there's some that are riser style and some that are donut style, I think I'd prefer donuts as they don't look like they'd pop out as easily: http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/vehperprod.html

i think you should re-install the the stock suspension... or buy coilovers which you can adjust...

replace them with stock suspension. YOur suspension is something you want to mess around with and have risers that dont help much

I ran those spacer on an Infinity QX56 slam on 22s.

It will hold up until you hit something hard enough to bounce you high enough for them to fall right out.. Then your stuck like a low rider with one wheel up in the air.

And you can install them yourself with just a car jack.

Thanks for the responses guys. It looks like I'm in a tough spot because I can't just put the stock springs back on. Even if I could easily afford it, which I can't, I like the handling improvement I get with the TRD springs, plus the springs are in my parent's attic in Texas and I'm in California.

Do they perhaps stay in better or could I secure them with gaffer's tape? Ghetto, but doable. Does placement matter? I'd think higher up or lower down on the spring would be more secure than in the middle, unless that's the only place it will fit.

If your in calif, I'm sure stock suspension would be easy to come by. Do you know how many Solaraguys live in So/Norcal? But, like everyone here is saying, stay with what you have or go back to stock. Thats it. Suspension is vital, and I wouldn't want cheap parts on my car if I had modified suspension.

I guess that I'll leave it the way it is. If I keep the tires close to max pressure then I can alleviate some of it. If I take off my mudflaps then I think that'll take care of the worst of it, but I've tried that before and the mudflaps have dug into the paint, which is pretty unattractive.

I wish there was a moderate priced alternative, I don't want bad parts on my car, and going back to stock is just out of the question, I like the handling too much. If there was something in the middle I'd be all over it. Initially I thought that this just happened to be an easy thing to do cheaply, apparently not.
