quick question...can you still use the factory shift knob or do you have to get a new one?

does it get rid of the Clunk clunk between the gears? I used to have a 92 Honda accord that shifted between the gears better than my "00 "lara??

CamryOnBronze wrote:this is slightly OT but not too bad, did anyone have trouble with the "speed clip" that comes with the TWM shifter? It looks almost like a washer that slides over the rod that runs through the shift assembly to hold the rod in place. I broke the stock one and the TWM supplied ones were too big- I think they sent me the one for the corolla. So all summer I ran without the washer and the pin would slide out once every few days- its very annoying. If anyone has an extra (mine came with 3 but they were all too big) shoot me a PM, Id gladly pay you for it.

That was my only gripe about the short shifter, otherwise I love it.

I got mine used so it didnt come with one, and I never put anything else on. Ive been waiting ever since for it to come off, but it hasnt (I put it in around springtime I think)

yeah I remember reading that in another thread before I installed mine and it encouraged me, but mine works itself loose now. I actually got twm to send me all of their toyota clips for 6 bucks, so they should be here soon... glad they helped me out at least.

Must be really short because the trd is already very short

The throws are not shorter. If im not mistaken, they have the same throw, the only difference between the two is that the TRD one is stock height. the TWM one is not as tall. i have the TWM and im loving it. but the speed clip was a biatch. took me about 2-3hrs to install cuz it came w/ no instructions and couldnt figure out how to remove it.
almost there...what do you think?

gotcha- Im just going from what Reggie told me in a PM. He told me the TRD one decreases throw by about 15% but the TWM may be more, so maybe it is just that it sits lower... which is a huge part of it for me, stock height looks like a bus

Is there any way to eliminate the free play of the shifter? I got TWM and it is awesome. I've read something about changing bushings?
