My 01 pulling to the right

My 01 pulling to the right

Postby Redline280 » Sun Jan 06, 2008 5:48 pm

I thought the pulling might be the alignment so I took it to a repair shop. They said it needed to be aligned. My 97 Ford Escort cost around $150 to get aligned, but the Solara cost $266 with parts. After getting the car back, it still pulls to the right quite a bit when I let go of the steering wheel. It will go straight if I hold the steering wheel straight; I don't have to hold it to the left anymore but it is still pulling. Also, when I turn the steering wheel, it jerks as if something is getting caught instead of being one fluid movement. What could cause these and how much would they cost to fix? Thanks a lot guys.

The tread seems to be alright. The shop said the tires looked fine but could rotate them if the alignment didn't fix the issue. Could that be the solution?

Why did it cost you $266.00 what did they do ? Is your solara a convertable? I just had my conv. alined last week and it cost me $69.00 plus tax and it was better but not fixed. I then made an appointment at a toyota dealer and had it test driven by a man that has been at the dealer since 1968 and he told me that that's the way solara conv. are .Slight pull is not unusual .Also when you hit a bump at a low speed say about 30 mph. i feel the bump through the stearing wheel if i let go of the steering wheel i accually shakes. I was told that was normal for the conv. and he had no explanation to why. Good luck and let us know if you find a fix.

Check the air pressure of each tire and then try rotating them. If that does not work I would take it back for them to do the alignment over because they might have got it wrong. It would not be the first time that I have ever heard of a bad alignment job.

I had the shop do a rotation and check the air pressure (for free of course) and it fixed the issue. Thanks for the advice.

After getting the alignment fixed, the steering wheel is still jerky when i turn at low speeds or moving the steering wheel slowly to the left or right. It isn't terrible but is annoying enough when driving around town. Is this something to be really concerned about? I have to go back to school in 1 week and i don't want something to happen on the interstate. Thanks.
