Expect $750+ in parts, and paint costs will probably be $1500+...now, if you paint the whole car, expect to pay $3500+

^^^3500 thats a bit high unless the place your taking your car is a high end paint shop. Got quoted 1500 CDN for the works, but im taping up my car myself. since i found most body shops get lazy in this department, and I cant stand overspray.

honestly, spending about 3k or more isnt out that far for what it costs for a good paint job... maaco is not a place you want to take your car.

It will be much cheaper to have the effected areas painted the factory red than to repaint the entire car.

honestly, for my DWP, $3500 is a VERY conservative number...especially when you start adding in body work, dings, scratches, etc. My car is currently getting completely refinished...by who I would call a well reputable shop in Rochester, MN...and I am looking at $5500 for everything! I have found with paint work, you pay for what you get. Most reputable shops will not quote you anything below $3000 for a full paint job. Bring your checkbook, paint/body work is not cheap and if you try to pinch pennies, chances are it will look worse than it did before you started.

^^^How long did the paint job take?

my buddy got his accord done from the same place im going and the job was great except for a bit of over spray on the black sealant around the windows, but its not as bad as u think. Heres the main deal his car was in the shop for 3 weeks, so its safe to say the deal was having his car last priorty in terms of completion date.

Plus i have a feeling my total will be around 2000 because i want my bumbers removed and kit and grill painted aswell seperate.

Also i forgot to add the body shop we go to we have known the owner for awhile.

But do agree u get what u pay for if u dont have a hook up!

i work in a body shop as a painter. if you are replacing your door, you will need to blend the fender and the 1/4 panel to match the paint, once you're in the 1/4 panel they are either going to blend the clear on the sail panel or will have to clear the whole roof and your other 1/4 panel since they are connected. add in bumpers and grille, x supplies and labor... its gonna add up. as for a full paint, i wont touch a car for under 3k, i want my money too!

I think DWP is the most expensive paint, IMO....to fix my driver door dent/gash, and a tiny corner on the fender that you could hardly see, but the body shop owner noticed it, he quoted me $900 somethin' to fix it. :o
And about $500 for the rear passenger quarter panel wit a slight blue dent from a Dodge Ram truck.

I had a guy back into the drivers side rear 1/4 panel and the bumper. Covered by insurance but my body shop, which I think is the best in town, took the driver side rear side window out to paint because of the window seals. As he said masking the area around the window is not an option because you can't get a good paint line. So even though the damage was down low, in order to blend the paint in, the entire rear 1/4 panel had to be painted and taken up to the ridge on top of the roof line. The bumper had to be painted also but that was no big deal.

You do get what you pay for but realize that window areas have changed and most likely will have to come out to get a smooth finish in those areas.

hkrs some place will quote cheaper and do quality work.. one of the shops i work with who is doin my car right now only quoted at 2600 for oem paints.. higher for custom.. the guy jose there has built many show cars and 1 off designs.. so it depends on where you go

word of mouth is good but do not trust anyone who says they have a "friend" those friends usually are not great.. go to shows or talk to people with custom paint.. ask them wehre they went and see if ucan check out their cars door jambs etc.

another big factor is competition! you guys out on the west coast have much more competition, thus lowering the price. In the midwest, we don't have many shops to choose from, especially ones with good reputations...so unfortunately that often leads to a higher premium price for a good job.

taking the window out isn't necessarily all for the tape hard line, but more for getting the proper adhesion for the paint, that way the clear won't start peeling. as for the red, i'm pretty sure it is tri- stage just like the pearl white, so it will be relatively close in price.

seriously, get the difference between respray and repainting the whole car...you will love the difference between the two. Respray with the DWP is expensive, the way toyota wants you do match it entails 3 part process (i know i got it done for front bumper + hood + new fenders and rear bumper).
