I had experience with both the Clifford and Compustar 2-way. Back in the '90s I had a Clifford Intelliguard 7000, it was a 1-way because 2-ways weren't even developed yet. I like the fact that it came out with a rocker switch on your dash that would be a backup in case the remote was lost. What I didn't like is that you had to be fluent in Morse Code-like taps. Also, although the remote had only 4 buttons, those buttons led you to all types of options but, again, it was like putting in cheat codes on an Xbox controller (A, X, up, up, left trigger down, etc.). I had the system for 5 years, finally memorized the codes and it worked flawlessly. When I got the Compustar, there was less codes to remember just a few button combinations plus an LCD screen. That also gave me no problems but the remote ate up AAA batteries. And I had no idea how to disarm the alarm without the remote, so I went to the dollar store and bought packs and packs of batteries. Overall, I hear that all two-way remotes chews through batteries but at least the Compustar comes with a battery guage. So I'd say search around and see what you like and will be comfortable with because if all are installed correctly they pretty much do the same thing. I'm getting a Clifford in Feb. '08 because I trust the guy who installed my first one. The key thing to remember is it has to be installed right, if it's done by guy whose spells sensor with an "i" the alarm gets the brunt of the blame rather than the installer.
