homemade intake

Postby SolaraPatrick » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:13 pm

I improved my stock intake by cutting out the sides of the box (beneath the filter...obviously) and replaced the filter with the K&N model. My question is... between the K&N filter and the mass flow sensor, there is another filter attached to the bottom of the upper box... is there anyway to remove this filter? I think that the K&N filter being between the sensor and the ambient air should be enough. Thank you.

that is the acoustic dampener you are talking about on the bottom of the upper box. and no there is no safe way in removing it, you just have to break it off

why wouldn't it pass emissions? Its just a different way of taking in air.

With the acoustic dampener completely broken out, is there a chance the filter could be sucked up a little, having a gap form, or will the sides of the box hold it in place?

It's cheap. The surface area of the K&N replacement filter isn't quite as much as a SRI filter, but it's close enough for me! I'll pay money for a CAI, but not for a SRI.

THis is kinda dumb idea to the OP. why not just get a sri or cai and call it a day instead of flippin up your stock box. that if you want gains or any kinda improvment. CPe FTMW

My Old ricer under the hood days haha
Do not know if it has been proven yet but different intake size does effect hp and tq because the length the air is flowing in.
