Engine Bay Vibration/Rattle Noise

Engine Bay Vibration/Rattle Noise

Postby XEusioN » Mon Dec 17, 2007 2:09 pm

Hey Guys,

Quick question, I have an 04 4 banger coupe (at) with around 76k miles.

Around 900rpm and 1800rpm, you can hear a pretty loud rattling or vibrating noise. It's been tough to localize the source of the noise so far, but it seems to come from the rear of the bay, possibly under the intake manifold.

Has anybody else had this problem, or can shed any light?

Thanks :)

Got the car up on jacks today and here's what I found:

On the back side of the intake manifold, there is a vacuum hose attached to it. The fun/interesting part is that there's nothing attached to the end of this vacuum hose. It's sitting there wide open, no cap or anything, and it leads directly to the throttle body.

I can't seem to find a vacuum diagram anywhere to figure out what this is for...does anybody have a vacuum diagram for the 2AZ or know what this thing is for?

Any help is appreciated 8)

Cruise works fine, used it yesterday. I'll try and take another look at it today, its just in a really weird spot and hard to trace.

I have a hunch it might be for the throttle body coolant bypass...but we'll see.

Definintely not for the coolant bypass...I think I found it in the service manual though...It's just listed as a vacuum line, with no explanation as to where it goes.
