Timing Belt Kit for 1mzfe engine

Timing Belt Kit for 1mzfe engine

Postby PTSOLARA » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:46 pm

My car is coming close to 180K. So i am planning to have major work done on it (time belt, water pump, ac belts, etc). On ebay, there are a few sellers selling the entire kit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... Y.m238.lVI

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-A ... enameZWD1V

Has anyone purchased these kits from ebay? They seem to offer quality parts meeting the OEM specs. But i don't know whether i should buy the parts there (to save a few bucks) or pick them up from my Toyota dealer (more expensive but i know they will last for another 90k for sure).

Any recommendations on where i can get the original Toyota timing belt kits on the web? My local dealer seems to be a little pricey.

Bro u do not need to go OEM for these parts i bought the contitiech timing belt kit and the parts looked more heavy duty then original. To tell u the truth a lot of parts i replace on my car are not oem.

For the water pump i went with the brand ASCO.

If your looking to do this job yourself GOODLUCK. Took me a good 8 hours, and half that time was spent getting off the crankshaft pulley.

I will have my local mechanic do the work. I just want to pick up the parts myself so i know exactly what i am getting.

Like you mentioned earlier, the work is going to involve a lot of time. That's why i want to put in some good parts in it so i don't have to ever worry about them.

Here are the oem part numbers that are also included in the eBay kit:

16100-29085 Water Pump
13568-09080 Timing Belt
13503-0A010 Tensioner Bearing
13505-20010 Tensioner Bearing
90311-38034 Cam Seals
90311-40022 Crank Seal
90080-91088-83 Drive Belt
90916-02401-83 Drive Belt

I can do just shy of $300 shipped for OEM... but ya. The eBay kit is like half that price :-?

PTSOLARA to be honest my car has 170,000km and the parts i replaced were in great condition. Probably could have driven another 80,000 without any problems. having that timing belt cover really keeps everything clean.

the ebay kits are fine. If they are OEM kits. personaly our sienna also a 1mz engine has over 200,000 on the car and has yet to have timing belts replaced. Belts are checked regularly to check for tears .. car still runs great

Same here, mine had like 110k and when I looked at the one he took out I was like WTF it looks brand new. LOL Oh well at least it's done.

Good Luck

Yeah, that's why mine look like when i replaced it at 90K. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if the mechanic put the old one back because it looked so new (no cracks or any sign of wear).

After everyone's posts here, it is nice to know that i am in no hurry to fix it (knowing that the parts will last longer than 90K). I will talk to the ebay sellers again and make sure all of the parts are of great quality. One of the seller is semi-local to me (Van Nuys, CA) so i might drop by and pick the parts myself.

GMB-made water pump is good stuff right? I will make sure i get either Bando or CentiTech for the time belt.

my mechanic pulled the cover to check my belt the other day and told me that my belt looked brand new....Im at 91k btw.
The only issue Im having is that I think the timing belt tensioner is on it's way out....starting to get noisy :-? ......so it looks like Ill be doing it soon :(

Sorry to TJ but how hard is it to replace the timing belt your self at home? I don't think I'll have to worry about it though, I'm only at 140k miles. Also how is the timing cover removed? I want to check out the belt & stuff. I wouldn't think removing the cover would fck anything up lol.
