Power window "AUTO"-button blinking.

Power window "AUTO"-button blinking.

Postby harp00n » Fri Dec 07, 2007 3:47 am

I've tryed to normalize my '04 Coupe power window as it written in the manual, but it didn't help - AUTO function doesn't work and the light on the button blinks twice every second.

Yesterday I left my car at the local Toyota dealer, but they still don't know how to fix it (they are dumb, yes, they never seen Solara yet).

Maybe someone can give me a clue, what they should do to fix the problem (try to look inside the door or smthng else?).

Do you have an aftermarket alarm on your car with auto up/down for both the driver and passenger side? I have one on mine and it too blinks every second or two.

No, I don't have such an alarm. It seems to be some kind of mechanical or electronical problem...

You might have to initialize the system.

Steps to initializing auto feature on 04 Solara:

1. Turn the key to "ON" w/o starting the vehicle

2. Open the window half way

3. Close the window, but keep holding the switch for at least 3 seconds after it's completely closed (just do it for 10 seconds, haha)

4. Check that it's working

Other than that, if it's still blinking, it's probably a defective circuit making the light flicker on and off... but if it's a consistant frequency, then that should fix it.

I have the manual, so I tried to do these steps already - it made no help.

Maybe there are some different steps to re-initialize the power window system - one mechanic told me, that he fixed such problem on Toyota Prius with short-circuiting some wires on a board computer plug but he's afraid of doing that on my car.

OK, I tryed to push all the way down and keeped it pressed for 5 seconds and... The window didn't want to go up after it! I had to remove the key and wait for about 30sec and only then I could roll it up.

It's really strange .

Weird! Must be a Russian thing! J/K

If you find a solution or if it goes away, let us know. This has been a good informative thread. (Thanks Jeff for the input!)
