so eversince i got my car, my key fob has been very weak and it would work in a 20ft radius of the car and now it doesnt work even if you are 3 feet away. you have to stand there holding the button for a while before it works. whats wrong?
its not the battery...i replaced that..i wish it was that easy..

maybe its not making contact? the button? did u clean the ends of the button bad when u took it apart?

yea mine does that too.. there are rare times it works far away but most of the time from mostly close distances.

^^^Get a new battery for your remote. Just pry it open ant replace it with one of those watch style batteries.

yeah mine sucks. i have to be withint 5-10 ft to do it.. sucks balls. i wonder waht is the normal range of the key fobs..

^^^crap i saw it after. A little tip if u hold your remote up to your chin u increase the range. I was told this at mobile dynamics and it works, but u look like a retard doing it.

my friend drives a jeep and she can unlock and lock her car from across a huge parking lot, id say 200yds or more and i cant even do it from 2 feet away

it works ive tried with and without increases range by like 10 ft+ haha

maybe time to get a new fob? mine works from pretty far away

kingkakyle you drive a 2005 solara and i drive a 2001...i think there is a difference. i think for some reason the gen 1 solaras, the reciever for the keyless entry just gets horrible reception...could be from the unit itself or from location.

i agree. gen 1 alarm does not have good range. new toyotas do. they even compare to distance on quality aftermarket alarms.

I also noticed that the range was better when you're walking towards the car instead of standing still... But still the question remains; the reception was said to fade over time; where is the proverbial "antenna" of the alarm so that it can be cleaned or even "hick-boosted" (e.g. putting tin foil on it)?

i have a 99 solara and tryed replaceing the battery and sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not work. I would love to know how to fix the probleam
