Gauge Cluster Questions

Postby chrom3titan » Thu Dec 06, 2007 4:53 am

sorry for the burst of new threads by me on these forums, i'm very excited to start modding my car.

Anyways this REALLY caught my eye http://www.importcarpartsplus.com/Needles.htm , is it possible to make my solara's guages look like that? I've read tutorials here on how to paint and remove coloring, but I want to buy a glowing needle thingy and change the background of my gauges,I really like the last or 2nd to last ones. help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

PS: I would love if you can link me to tutorials/ item links for purchase. Thanks again!

seriously this is the only one i could find lol

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98-99 ... otohosting

and it doesn't even say 2002 solara, it says 2001 solara manual tranny.. I don't get it. if anyone can point me to some nice gauges it will be very appreciated :)! and also, it doesn't mention that it comes with lights? This might be a noob question but do I need to buy the led's separately? or does it come with it or..? and also is this product compatible with my 02 solara? thanks

I put those on my Solara. It didn't turn out as cool as it shows in the pic.

First of all, to install them, you'll need to pop your needles off of the stems. When replacing the needles, its very difficult to be sure of gauge accuracy.

Also, when I did mine, to remove the needle orange backing, I used sand paper. I didn't even think about nail polish remover. So now my needles have a bad look (scratches).

What I ended up doing was I bought another cluster from ebay (if you do this, you'll need to go to a dealer and have the odometer reset). If I ever find some money, I will send my cluster here: http://www.blackcatcustom.com/

They can do what ever you want. faces, needles - any color, any style any brightness.

Good luck
