Hi beams are out - help???

Hi beams are out - help???

Postby Jeffrey Olson » Wed Nov 28, 2007 2:37 pm

I got in my 99 SE yesterday evening and turned on the lights, then switched to hi beams. The fog lights and low beams went out and no hi beams came on. I switched back to low beams and the low beams and fog lights came back on. No hi beams at all now. Any ideas???

and dont worry about the fog lights, they always go off when you trigger the hi-beams.

The 99 has H4 dual filament for the low beams (normal head lamps) which double for high-beams in the same bulb. I think the fogs are 9006.

If you flip to high beams, the fog lamps will turn off.

It's usually a thing with the Daytime light system. I believe the day lights are the high beams running at a lower wattage, so they burn out faster than the normal low beams, which you use for normal night driving.

Just make sure it's a dual H4 you get and not a single. The single will not function w/ the high beams.
1GR-FE ftw!
