04 Solara Tuning Options

Postby Scarab Performance » Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:33 am

Hello everyone! I wanted to find out if there was any piggy back or aftermarket systems that you all have tried and that work to increase HP on N/A Solara's. I have a guy that wanted to go with Uni-Chip however Uni-Chip does not support a plug and play application. Based on my research the stock wiring harness is extremely expensive so making the Uni-Chip plug and play is not an option at this time.

What are the best tuning solutions for an 04 Solara?

Thanks,

Dan

V6 or I4?

I don't fall for the "Chip" modifications. Nothing comes easy in life.

You can do anything you want with the right equipment. If funds are unlimited and tuning experience extensive, Motec or Greddy stand alone ECUs are a way to go. But no one here has a 'Lara modified enough to make use of such a tool.

Power Enterprises makes a VVT cam controller for Celicas. I have no idea if it could be used on the 3MZ V-6. Feel free to start research.

If you have the I4, look into turbo or supercharger kits made for the Scion tC. See if you can get one to work on the Gen2.

This application is for a V6. He already has exhaust, and intake and wanted me to tune if for a little more power. But I was just curious as to what was currently available. I think I could do the uni-chip however I notice people are using the safcII and getting good results. This might be the way to go, but I am researching all my options to make sure we find the best solution for him.

Thanks for your reply...

What he said ^^

Or, you can get a custom setup like a box from Split Second or something - will run you about $700 for a dyno tune with box.

Much cheaper to go with a CP-e and a tuned MAF unit

Or spring for the JPP Headers/Y-pipe and the Split Second box combo! :D
