Panic Button Mayhem

Panic Button Mayhem

Postby Chinky420 » Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:13 pm

so, my fob is being a sob. when i hit the 'unlock' button it will unlock the car, but then, almost instantly afterwards, will trigger the panic button (start honking and lock the doors). it doesn't happen ever time, but it happens at least once a day (and scares the bejeezus outta me). i've tried changing the fob battery, and am now thinking about opening up the fob to just disable the panic button altogether somehow.

anyone else have this problem, and is there something i'm missing? i'm 99% positive that it's not me accidentally hitting the panic button (i've been very purposeful about what i push on my fob lately), but i can't think of what would have caused it to start doing this.

any insight would be appreciated. this week i'm going to switch to my other fob and see if that solves the problem (hopefully).

mine kinda does that.. I have a remote where if u hold down the button it sets off the alarm. I dont have a panic button on mine.

so i think my button gets jammed and its sets it off. Which sux cuz i basically gotta pry the remote apart and put it back together to make it stop.
Ive had it happen in the middle of the night and was freaking out about it. Made so much noise in the neighborhood lol

You might need to see if there's anything wedged between the button or being stuck halfway down, but I know that the friggin' thing is super-sensitive... A mere touch instead of a press-and-hold or double-click would trigger the damned thing (and it's even worse for me since I have Highway Blaster horns in my car)!

^^ yeah i checked that when i replaced the battery. it doesnt seem to have anything stuck in it, so i guess i'll just have to disable the button from the inside if it keeps being a problem.

i bet it does suck to have the blaster horns when it happens. i've been thinking about upgrading my horns too, but will probably hold off until after xmas.

^^ where were those pass. side controls located at?

i thought i was losing my mind, but i unlocked it by key and had the panic mode go off. i figured i must have hit the panic button accidentally, even though i wasn't holding the fob. but with my audio system, something may have rattled loose, since i usually bump pretty loudly.

do you maybe have a pic?
