SAFC 2 Install Help

Postby 20SoLaRa02 » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:17 pm

Hey everyone,

I have a couple questions hopefully someone can help me with. First I found this wiring diagram from a thread about installing the SAFC2:
Image
http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... ll&start=0

the diagram says its for a gen 1. I was wondering if this would also apply for a gen 1.5, since they run the same engine. Also, this looks identical to the T10-f diagram on the safc 2 wiring manual except the diagram above has more things listed, which i don't believe i need to tap into all of those. Can someone confirm this is the correct diagram to use.

Last question, what type of airflow/pressure sensor is our vehicle? hot wire/flap/pressure sensor or Karman type frequency sensor?

Thank you in advance
-Michael

Yes, that diagram is correct in SOME wires, but some of those wires are NOT correct.

Sensor Type = Hot Wire

Sensor # = 12 in & 12 out

Sensor Cal = 1 in & 1 out

Car Select = 6 Cyl (up arrow)

I recently installed one on another solara...and a few wires were not the same... if u can wait a week, i can fix that diagram for u.

ok, i finally got it installed and it seems to work. i haven't driven the car yet. the one thing i haven't done yet is install the knock sensor. the diagram i'm using is similar to the one at the top of this thread but it shows two knock sensor wires. According to the other diagrami used Knock sensor 1 is the same as the "PE" in the diagram on the first post and the knock sensor 2 is the wire right next to it.

My first question is does our car have two knock sensors? If not i'm assuming i'll connect it to the "PE"/knock sensor 1. If we do have 2 knock sensors which one do i connect and how do i know?

thanks

Yes, we have two knock sensors.

And as to which one to connect to, the one behind the sc blows for people...usually. so thats the bank 1 knock sensor.

Since that one can give u false readings, id suggest u monitor the front knk since it doesnt REALLY have the sc rite ontop of it...

My knk bank 2 blew because of a bad initial dyno run (ran it too rich). So rite now im running both readings off of the bank 1 knk.
