I have only used 87 octane in my 99 V6 Auto from the day I purchased it and will get between 18-20mpg around town and 25-27 on the highway at 75mph and I use a/c 100% of the time. Can't stand wind noise and the dirt that comes in with window down.
Remember that in 99 the epa ratings were always about 2 mpg higher than actual because of the way they tested cars. No accessories on and doing 55mph on the test stand in no wind conditions. Naturally some people can get the epa rating sometimes but imo not consistently.
Why pay 20-30 cents per gallon more for gas that is not a benefit to you when keeping your engine clean as stated above and driving in a reasonable way will get you as good as it gets.

Without ammunition, the USAF would be just another very expensive flying club.
