touch up paint

touch up paint

Postby someazn » Fri Oct 26, 2007 9:30 pm

Okay, some jackass at a chinese super market decided that it was smart to leave his shopping cart unattended with his kid in it. The wind blew by and his kid and the cart came hurtling down and scraped the entire driver side bumper. The paint was completely ripped off where the cart scraped against my bumper. There's like two 1 foot marks on my bumper now. I want to get touch up paint for my car but have no idea how to use it. I have a black 05 solara, what do you guys think I should do?

Well, based on my experiences with touch up paint, they don't really help at all. It just makes it really ugly. What I suggest you do is take it to a body shop for a repaint. It'll be worth your while.

I'd tell the guy he'd better pay for it, or you are calling him in for child neglect.

Well, it works to an extent... What I'd do is apply it, then wet sand the area with 1000 grit sandpaper, buff it and apply some wax... But then again I'd do the entire car; it'll give it a showroom detail.

That's why you pay the big bucks for insurance. Take the car to a body shop and get an estimate for the repaint. If you're in contact with the guy who let the cart go make him come up with your deductable. Another option (if, for some reason, the guy won't pony up) is small claims court.

You'll never be happy with a touch up paint job.

Cheers

touch up paint is really only useful in touching up small paint chips due to pebbles. if you like having a clean looking ride (i'm assuming you do), then you're def going to want to take it to a body shop for a repaint (plus they can hook you up with a small tin of the paint afterwards).

hope everything works out for ya
