Window Tint for Blue Streak Metallic Color

Window Tint for Blue Streak Metallic Color

Postby lo siento » Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:58 pm

Hey guys looking into getting my windows tinted and was told by the tinting guys who will use formulaone film that either premier or ultimate will look good with my car color.

From what I gathered from him he said the premier film will be silver/reflective and the ultimate will be charcoal in color. I'm in VA so I'm going to be doing 50% front and 35% rear. Just wanted to post and see what peoples opinions where on the two different films and which one you guys think would look the best. I also have the tan leather interior color, not a black interior.

Thanks,

Frank

Thats a waste of money im Sorry .. Do 20% in the rear window and 35 % in the fronts .. Having a lighter interior will make the tint look lighter .. Also 50% is like not having tint at all .

I agree the 50% kinda sucks and brought it up with the tinting guy and he said if you go darker you'll eventually get caught. He said fines were around $200 and I don't want to take that big of a hit and then he said it would be around $150 to take off the front tint and redo in a legal tint film.

Thats bullshit ive been pulled over 5 times on diff cars , Never got a fine got a repair order. I know Unblancedwood got a 70$ fine or something like that
Then go 35 all around. Thats the legal limit (correct me if im wrong)
Im telling you your going to regret getting 50% because its pointless ..it dosnt stop sunlight, people can see you, it barley protects the leather or seats, overall its useless to get 50%

Thanks for the advice. Do you have an opinion on the two different films he recommended? I was also reading that the 2007 Solara windows already come with a little tint and that might make the tints look darker.

stock 'tint' is like 3% its just mostly for blocking glare.

like Ruski said i have 12% and got an 86$ ticket in the state of VA, by cops in the same strech of I81 (lexington/rockbridge) twice, so i think its a little screwy.

I got my tint by a guy in MD, same with Biggie.

GO with 20-35%...i need to get my fronts redone next time im home....

I really like how your tint looks on your car, but my drive to work is down I-66 against traffic thankfully but I see probably 2-6 cops a day with probably an average of 1 a day looking at my side of the highway, so my car will have a lot of exposure to the police so thats my worry.

so 20 on the backs and 35 on the fronts if your worried, ive never been pulled over in NOVA or down here at school. i just had two instances of bad luck in hickville.

I doubt they would waste time in traffic to pull you over for tint, but you never know.

Where in VA are you? Me = Ashburn

yeah, you'll be fine with 35...i might put some cash on that. Ive seen so many cars in nova with almost limo tint on their rides, wonder if theyve ever pulled over.

wish i still lived in FL...28 is legal on the fronts. my buddy had 5% on his fronts.

Im from Montreal Canada and cops here are now giving tickets to allloott of people who tint over the limit (i think its 70% front). So, personnally I wouldn't risk it.

Now your original question was on the color and not the %.

I would go with silver tint. I always liked the mirror effect. Many people dont.

Also, if you want to tint your windows, dont make a big difference of % from rear to front, that doesnt look good.

The more I'm reading the more it looks like staying within the laws might be the best choice overall. People are saying insurance companies can refuse claims because of your tint colors and what not. My main goal wasn't really to make it so no one can see me in my car, but add a little bit more protection to the interior and add to the cars look.

I'm with you leaning towards the silver tint. I think it would go well with the car paint color, even if it is a very light tint. I'm hoping to get it done Mon/Tues of next week at latint in Virginia.

Next things on my list that I'm looking at is the cp-e intake and maybe the TRD lowering springs but my co-worker said if I did the lowering springs I should do the struts as well so don't know about that yet.

If you are worried about the laws just do 35% all around. I have 20% in my back two windows and my rear, and 35% in my driver and passenger side windows. Cops can give you tickets, but the only "real" way cops have of identifying tint percentage is a machine they hook up to a window that rolls down, so they can't really calculate your rear or two small side windows. I know they can still give tickets based on how dark they think it is, but that is the only way i know of them calculating tint. (correct me if i'm wrong.)
