Partially debadged my 'lara

Partially debadged my 'lara

Postby Gangis » Fri Oct 19, 2007 9:15 pm

I was grabbing some mail today when I took a look at my car. All of a sudden I decided that it could do without the "TOYOTA" lettering on the trunk. Here's the before pic.

Image

And here's the after. I think it looks cleaner and more balanced. I always thought that having the Toyota logo and the lettering was just redundant.

Image

Then I looked at the sides and decided to remove the "SLE V6" badges as well. A hairdryer, cheap plastic comb and a helping of acetone later, I was done. Unfortunately the camera batteries died before I could take pics, but here are the badges I took off the car today, taken with my crappy Sidekick 3 camera.

All in all, I think my lara looks SO much better. Any thoughts/comments?

I left my sides too, didn't want to be confused with a 4 banger lol. I left the Toyota logo and took everything else off my trunk, i love it and think it does look a lot cleaner.

I like that u left the logo and Solara badges, looks good on ur car as a convertible for some reason. Looks good.

Thanks, guys. :) About the sides, if you think about it, it gives the car an element of surprise. Know what I mean?

Personally, I dont like the debadging of cars. It seems like your stripping the car of its identity. I drive a Toyota Solara, and I want the whole world to know it. I like Toyota too, so I like their logos and names on the car.

That being said, what you did by removing the Toyota lettering on the trunk looks pretty cool! Makes it like neat. My rec, however, would be to leave the center Solara and Toyota logo on there. I think it would look weird removing it, people would wonder what in the world the car was.

By the way, your home looks absolutely beautiful!!!! A lot of times Cincinnati has such crappy weather, especially during winter. It must be so nice to take a convertible ride in that on a nice, sunny day!

Thank you! It's actually my father's home, I'm just living with him until I find a job somewhere. :)

As for the debadging, I completely agree with you. I wasn't planning on going any further. I love the Solara identity so I'm keeping the Toyota and Solara logos on the trunk. Ditto for the logo on the grille.

i agree with that somewhat. But after a race or at a car meet i like people asking me about my car and what it is. I like telling someone with a surprised look on their face what they just lost too. :D
