gen2 Transmission

Postby NightRider » Thu Oct 18, 2007 12:44 am

Not too long ago my car hesitates both man. mode and auto mode when driving. Mind you this only happens when the car is cold and first driven for the day. As i accelerate from a complete stop and when my car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear the car jerks a bit like the transmission is hesitant to shift, and then it shifts regularly after that.

It does this for a bit until I drive the car for a few minutes and it is warmed up. Lately this has been bugging the crap out of me and haven't had time to take it to the dealer to have it checked out. I guess I just don't want to be w/o a car for a few days but I'm hoping my problem doesn't require me to leave my car over night at a dealer

Any help?

Sounds pretty normal. Have you had the ECU for the tranny hesitation "flashed"?

(Most auto trannies will not perform "fluidly" until the ATF reaches proper operating temperatures. I don't "push" the car hard until it begins to "warm up". This takes a little longer as the weather cools.)

...also, note that the TRANNY doesn't warm at the same rate as the ENGINE. If the car IDLES awhile after starting and before driving, you will have an ENGINE up to temp... but the TRANNY requires DRIVE TIME to come up to temp, as the ATF isn't under "load" and heating until the car is under way.

General rule... first 5-10 miles it is not up to temp. After that, you should notice better performance than when first starting out.

(All comments assuming there ISN'T a serious/other issue with the unit.)
