New Transmission ( or used one ) ?

So I bought my car like 3 to 4 years ago.. And I got it from an auction with 55k miles on it or so.. Manual and v6 loaded- I loved it- but I bought it at an auto auction for a steal, but didn't test drive it. Drove off with it and the 3rd gear was moody and sometimes it wouldn't go in(just grind and come back out)... Never got it fixed and now 70,000 miles later- the clutch is done and slips above 4000 rpms- the pedal sticks to the floor and the 3rd gear doesn't work period(will refuse to go in-keeps bouncing back out)

So this morning I brought it to cottmans transmission by me, and they said they can rebuild the transmission (may need a new fork and 3rd gear plus synchro's) ... and I need a new clutch and probably pressure plate/slave cylinder.. What to do..

Left it there to get the clutch and plates/cylinder to be done. He's gonna call me morrow for the price on rebuild, scared to find out.... I'm already at $1000K for the work being done now(not including rebuild of tranny plus parts)... Anyone have a good used manual I can swap out??

just pick up a used one...rebuild will usually cost $1K + parts then plus the $1K that you've already put into it to do this other stuff.

So yea-- So happy- Just got the car back- when I dropped it off the other day- he took out the transmission, starting working on the clutch and flywheel. He also called me that day and told me he found a transmission from a rolled over Solara in upstate NY (I wonder who's). Anyways- it had around 40K miles and worked well and came with a 90day coverage he said. All for $1100. I said lets go.

This morning, I picked up the car- All done, Drives like new... Wow, forgot my car had some pickup like that and could peel out.. I definitely recommend cottmans / Aairtec transmission in Shrewsbury NJ. 2 Day turnaround and very friendly guys plus he gave me a 90 day paper warranty and told me if I had any issues within the next year- he would take care of me.

:D >> next thing to fix- replace the struts.. maybe tokico's..

You can pick those transmissions up for about $400 from a local parts yard, and get a 6 month warrenty with it... I did the install on mine and it took about a day or 2... I should go into the transmission business
