front license plate

front license plate

Postby zeppman » Tue Oct 16, 2007 7:47 am

Well, it finally happened. After driving my 05 solara for two years I got a ticket for not having a front license plate (always thought the front of the solara just looked too good to deface with a plate). Anyways, how have you guys attached the front plate? Do I have to drill? Is there a bracket that I can use so the plate doesn't sit at such an ugly angle?

Thanks!

Come on Jeff...you know he doesn't want to do that.

I think there is a bracket, but I'm not positive. Call your dealer, they will know. If not, check out the local auto stores to see if they have a non OE solution.

I think you are looking for one of those the mounts up under the bumper without putting holes in the bumper, right?

My factory bracket screws right into the bumper. I don't think there is any way around it. I agree it looks funny without the bracket.

Mr. Slippery, where did you get the bracket? I guess if I have to, I'll drill holes, but if there is a way around it, I'd rather go that route. But I think it will look very ugly if I just bolt the plate to the bumper without a bracket.

Oh well if you are located in chicago, thats where I'm located too.. honestly, good luck with that man, i had the zipties, even tried some real strong 3m tape, nothing, had it on the windshield, in the end, i just got sick of the cop hassle and put it back on the front bumper.

thanks kingkakyle. I called the local toyota dealer and they do sell a bracket, $12. But the part number will help, just so I'm sure I'm getting the right part.

I've asked a cop before, he said you still will get a ticket if its in the windshield.

You could use that clear 3M super lock Velcro to attach it to the bumper. That way you can take it off if you want, and no holes in your bumper.
