I went to tires plus for tire rotation and they told me i needed the tie rod ends
removed and replaced.The quote was $537 with labour,any advice?

thats rediculas... they cost about $30 from advanced, take about 20min to change... come to Omaha, i'll take care of it for 500

Are they the inners or outers? The inners would have a higher cost, but 500+ seems awful high. I am hopeful that estimate includes the alignment also right? If not it's really high.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

I just used nail polish and marked the threads before I replaced it, then tighened it down to where it was... didn't need to do the alignment after that

They are inners and yes it includes alignment.

If they're using top notch parts I can see how they got to the total. Makes me glad I am the one getting paid for the work, not paying LOL. Mark everything when you take it apart, but I would still have a shop check the alignment. Where I work, if there isn't a need for adjustment, there is no charge. This said, I did the outers on my Corolla about 2 years ago, marked them well, but they still were out (pretty close though). Fortunately, the boss lets me align my cars for free :).

I went into sun tire to get an alignment. They said i needed a new inner tie rod. Put a new one in for 70$.

Using tape or nail polish or counting threads works fine if the new part is EXACTLY the same as the old one. You should get an alignment when you're dont to make sure... and they're good to get every now and then anyway.
