Wheel and rear mirror from Solara '07

Postby harp00n » Thu Oct 04, 2007 7:54 am

I want to make some upgrade to my Solara '04 - I want silver button controls from '07 and rear mirror with "auto-dim" function.

I have several questions:

1) Are they the same thing - electronic rear mirror from '04 and from '07, do they have any changes?

2) Is it possible to install '07 silver button contols to the '04 wheel?

3) Can anybody give me his VIN number from '07 Solara, so I can contact a local dealer to order these parts? Exact parts numbers are welcome too :)

Pretty sure the controls would be a direct swap. I'm unable to provide you with a VIN, but the parts shouldn't be hard to pursue.

As for the auto-dimming rearview, that wasn't new for '07. I had one in my '04:

It's a Toyota upgrade that you can request from the parts store or find on-line. There are two models available, one with temp and one without... The one with temp runs substantially more, and is not necessarily since our cars have outside temp gauges in the cluster. The one you want should be around $200-$250. The wiring is already there, located over your sunglasses holder, so no worries about that.

Check out the sites for Champion Toyota (Texas), Vancouver Toyota (Washington State) and Claremont Toyota (California). Those are the "big 3" for the best prices / parts availability that I've found... I've done business with all three and they're all great. It's pretty easy to find stuff on their site as well.

Good luck,

-James

Actually, also get in touch with Reggie (NVDIS1). He works at a dealer and may be able to help you out. Definitely check out those three sites as a basis though.

Guys, please, give me your VIN-code, because I need it to order a mirror, here in Ukraine (if your car is equipped with it, of course :)).

You don't need a VIN# to order this part. Just contact a Toyota dealer. You may need to pay for a call to the US, but the mirror has nothing to do with the VIN, it's an accessory, like James said.

I understand it. I mean, are there any Solaras with the auto-dim mirror already included? If someone has it already installed I need his VIN (btw, I don't want the model with the temperature meter).

The situation in Ukraine is that official Toyota dealer doesn't know anything about Solara. We have here several not-lisenced dealers, who just import cars from US but they do need to know VIN if they order some part. I'll try to ask them to search for it in "accessory list" if they have it.

I gave you the link to the US website. If the dealer over there can't figure out how to order it with the website as a starting point, I'm not sure you should be buying stuff from them

:) OK. I'm ordering TRD RSB now, it would cost me 400$ with shipping, so I guess they'll find me a mirror.

Thanks for answering, brother!

The silver buttons you are talking about on the steering wheel will not work on your car. You need an entirely different steering wheel to make them work. Not sure if your airbag will fit in the new steering wheel either.

Guys, I did some search for exact part numbers of the auto-dim rear mirror for Solara and founded three types of them:

1) 87810AA020: 05/2005-08/2005 ~325$ with shipping

2) 87810AC090: 03/2005-05/2005, 08/2005 - 05/2006 ~325$ with shipping

3) 8781006090: 05/2006 - ... ~1000$ with shipping 8-O

So, does anyone know about any differences between "1)" , "2)" and "3)"?

p.s. don't tell me to ask dealer for help, as it doesn't know anything about Solara's parts :)

You have the one which doesn't have the temperature meter, don't you?

Please, can you give me the VIN number of your Solara, it's really important to me.
