Steering Wheel Wear & Conv Top Question

Steering Wheel Wear & Conv Top Question

Postby yar02169 » Mon Oct 08, 2007 8:41 am

My 2005 ragtop has worn off the beige color on the steering wheel. Have any of you out there seen this yet? The car has only 26,000 miles, and from past experience it should not be showing the wear that it does.

My second question is with the top. I have noticed that part of the headliner is loose in the left rear quarter. A quick inspection shows that an elastic band looking part has broken free, allowing the liner to droop. It looks like it was fastened with a rivet or something similar.

I guess I'll be visiting the dealer for some warranty work....

Well, I droped the car off at the dealer, and I added that the left side of the seat back's side bolster had also worn a hole throught the leather. The next day they called and said that they were going to perform a "good will' repair for me, and it would be a few days. They sent the car out to a specialist, and he repaired the roof flap, and replaced the side bolster that was worn on the seat (great job too). I believe the dealer replaced the steering wheel. I like the work that was done, but I feel it should have gone through as a warranty claim and not a good will gesture; that keeps those in Japan from knowing about the situation, unless they're reading this post.
