I'm looking to get the manual/v6 but this would my family's 2nd car any my fiance can't drive stick for her life so with that said, are all the mods available for the manual/v6 available for the auto? And if so, how much of a difference performance wise is there? Should I bite the bullet and just get the manual at the risk of maybe having to replace the clutch? Thanks guys.

The only thing I know of that's different between modifications for the manual/auto is the EGR tube when you go supercharged.

Other than that, it's all the same.

well, its not "the same" when u talk about power, otherwise its all the same.

The Manual v6 supercharged, obviously will put out more hp and torque than the Automatic with the same setup.

Get the manual...

As a person who's taught stick before, if you teach her the fundamentals and make sure she gets it BEFORE she steps into the car (e.g. prime the gas first / always clutch before shifting gears / starting against a grade, etc.), the concept of stick won't be that hard to grasp... Usually can be done in an afternoon within an empty parking lot.

After practice, it'll become almost second nature (albeit a bit rough) in a few days, and a week or 2 later she'll drive it almost as if it's auto, and after a year or so she'll try to "find the clutch pedal" the next time she steps into an auto; It was kinda funny to see when a female co-worker ran an errand using the company car.... Too bad I was dating back then, 'cuz I find women who can drive better than average to be VERY hot.

... But at least she didn't learn how I did; I learned stick in a 1967 Beetle with NO power steering, failing brakes and 4 gears... Just don't confuse her by teaching her how to double-clutch or engine brake too soon; save the Danica Patrick stuff for a few months later.

i agree with those above saying that she should learn a new skill...

just be sure to emphasize practicing the start on a hill/grade. nothing is more embarrassing and frustrating that stalling out two or three times on a hill....or rolling back and hitting the person behind you (b/c they're usually too close)

last thing you would want to have is a nice new ride, that she decides to leave on the side of the road since she can't get it off the hill, and she comes home in a cab.

but if taught properly, give her a day to learn engaging the clutch, and then give her a day to do it on a hill. if done for a couple hours on each, she should hopefully be alright.

i've stomped on the kick panel before. funny stuff. you fell like an idiot when you do it though. it was good for a laugh.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I really appreciate it. I just remembered, even if she sucks at it or doesn't want to learn, we're still keeping out auto. camry :) lol

well thats good. Just make sure she knows where the clutch catches the engine, and knows it well.
