SE V6 "without" moonroof rare?

SE V6 "without" moonroof rare?

Postby ClassySolaraGuy » Fri Sep 28, 2007 2:06 pm

Wzup All?!

I've brought this up a long while ago but I've still been searching for a Gen 2 or 2.5 SE V6 Lara without a moonroof unless the engine is an I4. My girl's 05' SE V6 doesn't have the moonroof. Then again she was lucky that someone else special ordered it then decided they didn't want it with only 3 miles on the odometer. I don't care about resale value or anything like that cause we don't plan on selling her Lara ever! LOL! If your asking yourself why I don't want a moonroof here are my answers:

-Another window to keep clean
-Another way to try to break in
-Decreased headroom
-Another possible thing to fix

Are there any other SE V6 Lara's here without it?

i bought my car without a sunroof. since my car is white, it looks smoother than it would if it had the rood installed. but i think a plus of having a sunroof is that it will increase the resale value of the vehicle. or something of that nature.

I can't imagine driving a car without a sunroof, every car that I have ever owned has been equipped with a sunroof and every car that I buy will have a sunroof.

I did see an 05 Solara V6SE Sport in silver without a sunroof sitting on a dealer's lot up in Madison Wisconsin a few weeks ago. I am not sure if it is still there or not, or even how the car was equipped. I was a bit surprised that it did not have a sunroof.

i dont get that... it doesnt take any head room.. its at the same lever as the rest of the roof. and when its open, you actually have more head room... thats if someone is tall enaught.

I love my sunroof... when it rains, when its sunny and i want to get some sun on me, when i smoke... just love it

I have not compared Solaras with and without sunroof, but I am sure they take about 1 or 2 inches out of headroom. Funny thing, but I know I need a haircut when my hair starts to feel the celing! LOL

In regards to other things, I like my sunroof a lot, but the bugger has more noises that it should. A lot of ppl I know have sunroofs in their cars and I have heard no complaints. However, my 05 Solara has been more time in the dealer for attempts to fix the rattle than any other problems... still, no luck.

Maybe I got one outlier Solara instead of being like the rest of your Solaras, but I sometimes wish I didn't have any rattles above my head...

nope, it lowers the amount of interior headroom. edit* Let me see if I can post up the dimensions. Well, all the toyota sites don't sepicify, and mention they may have optional equipment. So I can't get my facts off that.

But if you think about it, you'll figure it out. The moonroof has to lower, and slide backwards. Thus there is about an inch less headroom, because the moonroof has to lower into the car. Make sense?

You don't WANT a moonroof?? That's weird to me

I've never owned a car that didn't have a glass roof of some sort.... sun roof, moon roof, t-tops.

Depending how tall you are sunroofs & moonroofs are NO. One "car" that does offer excellent headroom with a huge sunroof for tall people would be the Mini Cooper. You could even get away with wearing your track helmet in one of those as well. 8)

yep basically sunroof has to go somewhere so it goes into the car
if u see other cars like the tC where the glass slides above the car.....then you wouldn't lose head room :sweet:

yeah, the headroom is my biggest complaint about the car. (other than no manual trans).

Next would be that the window is located really high for my elbow to rest upon. Makes me pinch the nerves in my neck :(

I bought my '06 lunar mist V6 SE without a moonroof. My first '06 (a blizzard white SE sport I4) had one though. I would have liked a moonroof in the V6, but I bought it off the lot (the sport I ordered).

Does anybody know, is it very hard to install moonroof to Solara, if I don't have one?
