Hi guys,
I'm new to writing in this forum but have always looked up what you guys write.

Anyway, I have a problem with my IAC valve and am looking to replace it myself with the help of a mechanic I know. Does anyone know what all is involved in this, especially where it is located.

I know I need to replace the valve, the IAC valve gaskets, and I was going to clean the throttle body and replace it's gaskets. If there is anything else I should do it would be great if you guys can help.

I have a 2001 solara sle, v6, auto, located in ga. Thanks!

Don't replace it unless you know it's bad for sure. I have to clean mine around every 30k or when i start the car, sometimes i gotta step on the accelerator for a while or the car will shut down. if you look under the air intake duct there's a metal part with about 3 1inch hose running into it. that's the iac. just remove it, get a bottle of coolant cause those three hoses are coolant hoses and a can of throttle body cleaner from kragen and clean it good and let it dry. it'll work just like new once you get it back in. i am still using the original gaskets, take care when removing it and take note of the direction it's facing. be careful with the trap door on the inside of that unit, sometimes if you open it too far to clean it can get stuck there. but if the iac isnt broken, this will save you some 300 bucks and only take like a good half an hour. I have some pics that i took when cleaning it the first time around. If you need them let me know and we can find a way to post them.

good luck to you
chris
