Stock suspension... something?

Stock suspension... something?

Postby Jakecallun20 » Fri Sep 21, 2007 7:41 pm

My suspension like squeeks and makes wierd sounds when I'm driving slowly at an odd angle, or something similar (pulling into driveway or pulling forward) I wanted to know if doing something like oiling it up with some kind of oil would be a good idea, if so.... what kind of oil should I use?

Thanks

The only place that could use some kind of grease would be the sway bar bushings, but that normally only happens if you've installed aftermarket sway bars.

Because your car is kinda getting up there in age, it could just be the suspension just doing it's thing.

Or stuff could be loose, who knows.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Its really annoying if I am driving thru traffic and my suspension squeaks when I slow down to stop or something. I just want to get it fixed if possible, without having to replace anything yet, I don't have the money for that ha.

Could it be the grease points? I haven't rotated the wheels on my car yet, so im not sure if it has them. But most cars have a grease point on the balljoints and suspension areas that need to be greased or they will get squeaky and ware out prematurely.

You can use White Lithium Grease.
They sell it at AutoZone, and O'Reilly's.
2000 Solara SE auto V6. Diamond White Pearl.
Top Speed Run finished at 130 mph. :o
Too many modifcations for the signature.

You need a grease gun to do it. It pushes over a small fitting and pushes the grease in.
Normally if you get your oil changed at a shop they will do this for free.

You can get one at any auto parts store they have them.

hate to break it to y'all but our cars dont have grease fittings. toyota is smart and uses sealed suspension parts and has for years. Usually find that crap on domestic brands

Yeah, the only grease points I'm aware of is in the bushings for the Rear Sway Bar. Even that needs to be removed to grease (No zerk fittings).

ok, so I had a mechanic friend look at my car, turns out (I can't believe I couldn't figure this out) that it is my rear left brake and not my rear suspension. Which would explain the hardcore squeekage from that side and the silence from my rear right and the grinding I feel when I brake downhill. I guess the pad is broken or something. Before I bought this car in May, the brakes were re-done so I'm guessing one is fcked. Does anyone know how to tell if this pad has fcked my rotor or disc or any vital (expensive) parts? I am fine with just replacing my pads but having to replace anything else might not be possible right now. Thanks for any advice
