FLAT @#%$!& TIRE!

I have a flat tire. It's took dark and rainy to go out and attempt to put the spare on tonight, so I will have to get up early tomorrow and try to do it quickly before work.

Does anyone know if there is anything special I need to know about with the tire pressure monitors? I have never changed a tire with monitors in it, and it's been a long time since I have had a flat. Is there some kind of connection that will have to be disconnected?

Of course this would happen during a time when we are having the crappiest constantly rainy weather!

I don't think you need to worry about tire pressure monitors with changing your spare. The manual book for my car didn't give any special warnings about that.

The book did say to not go too fast while on a spare.

You don't have a thing to worry about... our sensors aren't connected to the tire at all. Just remove and reinstall.

So, how do they work if they are not connected somehow?

From what I understand they work by comparing wheel speed to the other wheels. And if there is a difference in speed then one (or more) has too much or too little air in it. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

I'm sure you've watched enough threads on this already before - but just in case, as others have mentioned, there are no sensors in our wheels at all. Its all based on tire dia and rev comparisons from each wheel. When one tire is low, the dia changes and throws the warning.

Thanks Jeff, and others.. Yeah, I might not have been paying close attention if I did see it.. oh well.

After I took the tire off, I saw that I ran over a nail. I'm sure it was fixable, but it was time for new tires anyway, so I just went tonight after work and got new tires all around.

Boy, tires are expensive.. Like I have said before, I usually don't keep cars long enough to have to start paying for this stuff. $800 bucks for 4 new tires. I did pay for the road hazard warranty, though..

All I could think about all day was how well $800 would go towards a new car.. Too bad for me

Used tires FTW LOL... But then again I'm a starving student with less than $50 left in my bank after all my bills no matter what I do to save . On a side note, I changed my 2 rear tires for about $25 each with 80% tread on them.

Possible, but you just wait til it comes in handy.

I know all the cops are watching those threads and are gonna give me a break next time I do something wrong
