I have a 99 Camry 1MZ-FE. I just bought the cp-e intake and I'm in the process of installing it. Some of the wiring doesn't match up. In the instructions, the picture shows the ecu labeled as HZ. My ecu on my Camry is labeled HX. Is this a problem? If not my question is are the wires just located in different connectors? Or are the wires located in the same place but different colors? Thanks for any help~!

the wires should be in the same place. And the colors should match just like in the pics in the instructions. Take some pics and post them up so i can see where you are.

The first picture is the picture of the instructions. Notice how the ecu is labeled HZ and mine is labeled HX.

Now the instructions say to locate the solid red wire on the connector E7. Well I don't have any solid red wire on connector E7:

However there is a solid red wire on connector E10:

If i remember correctly mine was HX too. But my wires matched up. Do not use the red-wire from E10, you need to hook it up to E7. It should give you a number to follow as well. Like wire # 17, and the connector should have numbers on it, like 10, 15, 20. Just count down or up from those numbers and see what color the wire is.

Different ECU...different connectors. I don't know pretty much about the difference between those 2 ECU type...but you'll have for sure to find and identify every equivalent wires. No an easy job. Perhaps, you may ask Java about his own experience...

So if I find the same pin # it will be the same wire? Correct?

That's my guess. Use the numbers on the connectors and match them with the numbers in the instructions. But, call the number on the instructions and talk to someone over at CP-E to see if they know the exact wires.

Well from lookin' at your pictures.

Image
^^
See how they tapped the red solid wire wit the silver stripe.
Look at it's location....

Image
^^
Look under the yellow wire, there is a solid red wire wit a silver stripe just like the one in the picture, that could be the wire you're suppose to tap in i think.

Just takin' a guess.

I see 2 way to see it...

color to color match...
red w/silver on both ECU model are the same

OR

pin# to pin# match...
red w/silver in pin #1 = yellow w/ silver in pin #1
