Push button trunk release from Avalon?

Push button trunk release from Avalon?

Postby philosophicaljt » Wed Aug 22, 2007 10:32 am

My mothers 2001 Avalon has a button on the dash, (next to where our mirrow switch is) that I would love to have in my Solara. Think its possible? I think the currecnt Avalons switch would fit. I just don't know how to do the wiring.

You already have a trunk release, why would you want two?

Actually - you have TWO already! One's on the key fob - One's by the seat... or haven't you found it when you fueled-up?

i dont know about that trunk release button...but i really like the way that 2001 edition steering wheel looks...does anyone think it'd be reasonably easy to swap w/ a '99 SLE?

sorry to threadjack

don't you guys think it would be nicer to have a push button on the dash, then a lever on the floor? I think it is not only easier to use on the dash, but it also a little classier.

but thats just my thoughts.

No, I like it there on the floor because I can lock it. Floor or dash makes no "class" distinction to me. It's probably on the dash in the Sienna because all the old folks and pregnant ladies can't bend down and reach it on the foor  I'm know it's getting harder for me! However, that's what the keyfob is for.

LOL...i actually never thought of that. I essentially never use that feature, but I'm sure I will want to at some point.

My trunk pop is behind the glove box. Its kind of a pita because if my cars running, the key fob trunk pop wont work. I keep my glove box locked all the time. So I have to turn off the car no matter what to open my trunk.

...just noticed im in Gen 2

in theory, the way to make this work is to just tie it into how the alarm does it, there has to be a wire that comes off the alarm brain that triggers it. Look through the specs for the OEM alarm and you'll probably find it.

I like mine on thte bottom. right next to the fuel cap release lever. that way when im done washing my car, i just use one hand, pull on both levers, and voila, both open. so i can dry quicker..
about 2.6456 seconds quicker :) than if i had to take the time to do two different functions at once :)

I'm in love with that 2001 steering wheel... I'd like to know if I can put it in my Lara. :) Is that possible?
