Wheels alignment help!

Wheels alignment help!

Postby harp00n » Tue Aug 28, 2007 6:46 am

Hello everybody!

First of all, excuse me for my poor English, i'm from Ukraine (the land near Russia :)).

I want to buy Toyota Solara 2005 2.4 SE. It had an accident (bumper, headlamps were changed) and I want to check the car geometry in the service station that do wheel alignment for cars.

The problem is that they don't have any information about such Toyota. They only have the control points for the wheel alignment of Toyota Camry. Can they use them for Solara? If they can't, maybe someone knows these control points. Service man told me, that if i bring them such information, they can check the car geometry ("caster"? and other stuff).

Hi harp00n !

I would believe that the Camry Gen 5 (2002-2006) platform and Solara Gen 2 (2004-2008) are the same and have the same geometry.

Welcome to SolaraGuy! Feel free to introduce yourself in the "Introductions" thread and post some pics!

There's also a few members who imported their cars to Russia/Ukraine, but I haven't seen them in a while so I don't know where they take their cars.

Anyway, it's basically the same car, but the overall size is about 3-10cm different from the Camry.

Ok, is this additional length (3-10cm) comes from bumpers or it comes from the car geometry ("power lines", that keep car going straight, i don't know how to say this in english)?

I'm buying it!

Postby harp00n » Sun Sep 16, 2007 6:06 am

ok guys, at the service station i checked the car geometry, suspension, engine, e.t.c. - everything seems to be ok (the car mileage now is 1600, so it's almost new).

so, in a few days I'll buy this car and you can congratulate a new member of Solara's team :)

The nearest plans are (on this week):
- bi-xenon lights to the headlamps (not sure if AUTO lights feature will work);
- xenon lights to the fog lamps and make it possible to always switch them on so to use them with "FAR"(?) light;
- distance alarm system with auto-start (so in winter i can sit to the heated car);
- "mirror" toning(?) for all windows except the front (so thiefes couldn't watch inside of the car :))

Whew... I was worried that someone was passing your ride off on him saying it was in a "minor accident". :o

28000$ - that's how much i pay to the guy, who had ordered the car to Ukraine and repaired/painted it to the "new" condition. The guy has some profit, of course.

It's a good price here, if i would like to buy it new (at the same "basic" complectation) from the dealer it would cost me 38000$-40000$.
