Thanks

Yeah, it's under the hood and in the upper left corner... It's a clear container with fluid ranging from yellow (good) to black (bad, replace ASAP) with a black rubber top.

the master cylinder is on the right.......
what you described is the power steering fluid container.....

It was air leaking out of the master cylinder, The small paper gasket right behind the fluid container had dried up and ripped. I was going to buy a new one from the dealer (less than $2.00) but we figured what the hell and we cut out a piece of head gasket material to fit and put that in it's place and the hissing stopped.
BTW,it did not affect my braking at all it was just annoying to hear everyday.
Good Luck with fixing yours,I'm glad I could help.

i looked behind the container and see nothing.... do i have to take something apart to get to the paper gasket?

Yes I replaced my rotors with drilled rotors (my 2nd set). I know they make that noise, but the air sound does not go away when I am stopped. If I am in Drive, and compress the brakes, even when stopped, it is a constant hissing sound.

Could someone please post a pic of where this small paper filter near the master cylinder is?

Thanks!

I had that same problem when I got new rotors and pads for my car, i brought it back to the shop where I had it done, THEY said it was air in the brake line.. but i kinda doubt it.. good luck with it man.

Are you talking about it from the perspective from the back of the car (I'm talking about if you were to open the hood and look at it from the front it's on your left, confusing left with right and vice versa, or have one of those rare JDM-everything-is-mirrored cars :drinking: ? By the way, the lid for the PSF is plastic with a built-in dipping stick, so I definitely know I didn't mess that one up.

LOL I've just been bored at work and just trying to randomly confuse car newbies (kinda like that NARP thread on the need2speed forums or the blinker fluid thing)... I knew it was on the right all along but this confusion thing is harder than I thought it would be... I was even going to Photoshop a reversed picture of the engine bay (words on the battery/V-bank cover excluded) and duke it to the end.

Thank you for participating though :evilbat: .

OK - So is the the question that no Solaraguy knows the answer to? Or does the guy with the answer just not want to share? How do I get to this paper filter that would seal the vaccume leak? Pictures or a detailed description would be great!

Thanks
