Sounds like air coming from brakes

I recently changed my rotors and now when I press on the brakes it sounds like there is a constant air flow (hissing sound). Even when I am stopped, if I compress the brake pedal, it make the sound. Possible an air leak in the break line?

Any thoughts guys?

Could be, or it could be your brake master leaking. Do your brakes suck?

when you push on the brakes it uses vacuum from the motor, so you could be hearing that... thats a normal thing... if your brakes are working fine, then its probably supposed to be happening.

If it was leaking air from the master cylinder, then it would be harder to press the brakes (like when your car is turned off)

There shouldn't be any air leaks unless you undid the caliper. You should have it checked out by a brake shop unless you know how to bleed your brakes.

I did disconnect the calipers and C-Clamped them back to put new pads on, as I have done in the past, with no problems.

Would bleeding them solve this?

Actually, if your BMC is leaking, your pedal will be much squishier, as it won't be able to exert the same amount of pressure on your rotors. I know, because that's exactly what mine is doing now =)

there shouldn't be air in the brake line... there should be brake fluid, just a FYI

I had the same problem for a couple of months,but I finally figured it out about 3 months ago (with the help of a friend). It was air leaking out of the master cylinder, The small paper gasket right behind the fluid container had dried up and ripped. I was going to buy a new one from the dealer (less than $2.00) but we figured what the hell and we cut out a piece of head gasket material to fit and put that in it's place and the hissing stopped.
BTW,it did not affect my braking at all it was just annoying to hear everyday.

did you replace your rotors with stock ones or slotted-drilled one ?? If so it is the drilled-slotted that makes the sound.

Yeah, it's under the hood and in the upper left corner... It's a clear container with fluid ranging from yellow (good) to black (bad, replace ASAP) with a black rubber top.
