Welp, I took the car up to the drag strip in New Hampshire last night. Toyota says this car does the 1/4 mile in 15.5 seconds. Needless to say i ran faster. The car is stock enginewise (i had the shift TSB applied) and i was on regular all season tires that are allmost warn. Anyways, It ran very consistant, but here is some idea of what your going to do as a starting point.

those are fast times I knew the Gen 2 V6 is a lot faster than the times listed in the websites.

Imagine if a std tranny is available with the v6. :evilbat:

Yeah, a lot of people there were suprised at just how fast it ran. This was my first time ever drag racing and it was fun. As you can see, when i ran my best time, the car next to me broke, i heard it blew the engine. Anyways, to give some idea, one of the guys is was with had a stock 05 maxima V6 automatic, and that was running a 14.9, but it has a 3.6L V6 while we just have a 3.3L V6

You have good reaction time and 60' ! :)
What was the temp ?? I ran, last sumnmer, a 14.816 sec. on a 60F evening (have CP-e and TRD muffler (it is just a muffler)). I used a stop start...reving at around 3000RPM before launching it. I ran 2 different days...first day I ran 15.124 sec in average.

BTW, Maxima has 3.5L V6 engine.

Well, it being my first time, i just sat on the break till the 2nd yellow and then punched it (While it was in D) using the old left foot brake method. I didn't spin up the tires first and i didn't try to launch from a higher rpm cause the street tires would just spin (these things are pure crap). I just figured i'd get a baseline, then maybe once i get a cpe or some better tires, i can start to see where my gains are. This thing seems to die after i getinto 3rd gear, it's got like no acceleration. So i think that's all i'm gonna run for this summer, and maybe once spring comes around, i'll see what the changes i made does.

I agree with you !! 3rd gear is really killing us !! When you rev at 6000 RPM shifting from 2 to 3 gear the RPM then got too much low ! In KMH My first shift at 40-45 KMH, second shift around 90 KMH, third shift at 150 KMH...the third gear is too long !! In MPH it makes something like 1st @ 28MPH, 2nd @ 55MPH and 3rd @ 93 MPH.

I think the E153 tranny gearing is way better then our U151E tranny !! At least if we can count on some boost from a TRD S/C then it would help to push on the lower part of the 3rd gear !! Well...no pain no gain !!

I think maybe they ask for higher fees because they want to "control" the people who want to run...I guess 10$ extra dollars will not discouraged anybody tho :P

Go try it man !! :) You will love it !! Make 3-4 runs...first ones to set up your baseline...set an realistic objective and try to beat it ! :) First time I went there...my target was to get at low 15's...second time I went to break the 15's and enter the 14's...now next time I go there...will try to enter the 14.6's...well let see ! :P Maybe I could lose some pounds to help myself doing it !! Now at 290 pounds ! :P

At NED, it's $20 for unlimited racing. There were twice as many people as there normaly are, so i only got 4 runs in. People say normaly i can get in allmsot 10 runs from 6pm to 10pm. They do this Weds and Fri nights and during the day on saturdays if there isn't a big event goign on and they need to prep for it.

I'm going to the track tomorrow night...testing my new intake setup. I've made a CAI heatshield box prototype...let see how I'll make ! :D
I'll put 17's stockies in front and let my 19's on the rear wheels...maybe it will be equivalent to my 18's all around.

The weight of the wheel is something...but the size is even more important :

on the wheel radius...each mm or inch or whatever scale you used...is x^2 (power 2) the previous mm or inch or whatever scale you used.

bottom line...the weigth on the extra inch on the wheel radius (19 vs 17) worth so much in the balance scale. I assume the tire weights less than the wheel for the same size...don't remember the proper term...density it is !
