Auto tranny load?

Auto tranny load?

Postby tecknical » Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:58 am

Quick question. Does anyone happen to know up to what HP is the auto tranny rated? I know of a guy that stuck a turbo in his 02 Lancer only to blow the tranny a couple of weeks later. I know it was a Mitsu not a Toyota, but does anyone have any idea how much HP it can handle before things start going awry?

Toyota trannys are pretty strong in general since there people with autos pushing 800rwhp out of their supras..
my only worry is that mine already has 100k+ on it and i dont know how much more abuse it can take

Better grab one if you can find one, they are quite rare and get snatched quickly when they are being sold.

based on experience, the auto trans can hold a little more than 220whp.

i think it will start to be insufficent around 260.... again i think.

Doubt it'd hold 260...but then again, the 220whp number depends on a number of factors

I personally think that with a supercharger, our trannys can probably hold a bit more since the power comes on a lot more gradual than a turbo

and it will also depend on if you have an ebc or not as well as mileage and a modified valve body or not since that makes a big difference on an otherwise stock transmission

mole- how much power did you put down and through what setup?
