Where does the 3mz-fe engine in my 2004 solara rank amongst the top engines, it is possible to make a beast out of this engine, i have never owned a toyota before, this is my first toyota, i used to and still am a nissan lover, but right now the car gods have bestowed upon me the ability to branch out and try other companies and other vehicles, so i came here, to toyota, so how good is my engine really on a scale of one to ten and can i make it a beast of a engine with the right mods, holla

I think the engine could take a maximum 6-7 PSI to go around 320hp. The thing is the auto sequential tranny would not take it for us 3MZ Solara...it slide between shift...it would burn under boost. Don't know if only an tranny cooler would fix this situation...but I would prefer to make an E153 manual tranny swap before boosting the 3MZ. I'm almost sure at 100% that it is what stop TRD (U151E tranny) to display that there 1MZ SC can fit 3MZ because both engine block are the same size...the piston are bored a bit more...(yeah VVT-i is on but VVT-i doesn't stop TRD to do SC for other models). Turbo setup can be an option too with weak PSI (6-7) but still have the tranny problem...I say that without trying...I don't know but my logic tells me that the tranny wouldn't survive withtout upgrade. Tranny cooler for sure...heavy-duty torque converter...not yet a boosting pro...there is some boosted guys here with he 1MZ auto tranny (not the same as the Gen 2) but at least they can tell you which part on the tranny would be the most important to upgrade...I would like to know too !

Can someone can enumerate the parts to upgrade first on a A/T...and maybe some product or brand name.

so i need a new transmission, or better one, to get the power to the wheels, trans fluid cooler, and certains trans parts that allow quicker acceleration and power, then mod my engine, could i mod the tranny i have now, just put better parts in it or certain parts in it

Well...if you're really serious and have the money...go by Scott tranny E153 Kaaz LSD clutch stage 3 Fidanza flywheel...the real deal !! After swapping it...then you'll have the opportunity to boost it with a custom turbo setup.

Not completely stock lol. You need the almighty CP-e intake and other bolt-ons. Sebas is also in Canada, I'm sure the cooler weather also assisted him achieve that awesome time.

I had only CP-e MAFci + TRD Muffler.

I help myself with low gas level and no spare tire...anyway I'm weight -in at around 280 pounds...hope to get a bit better with JPP headers and my CAI (when finally my parts will arrive...and when my battery relocation setup will be top notch).

Colder air = denser air...Denser air block you to move foward.

if you go at 50 MPH it will take 4 time more power going at 100 MPH.
Bottom line speed double...power as to Quadruple (X4). I don't think that the extra 4hp (maybe less) coming from fresh air from outside the car would help fighting the speed restriction (intake temp will not be lower too much)...but with CAI you have an advantage because the intake temp will be less 30F then from the stock SRI intake temp.

The air temp was around 60F. I will write it in my page.

Nice Prelude philosophicaljt ! :)
