2008 Solara advertised on CD website

MCOjerry wrote:I wonder why the US site still has the SE and Sport still listed, with the 08s??? I don't think they are finished updating it...Look at the Canadian site...Cosmic Blue, SLE vert only...but on the US site, not so.

Also, that absolutely red they have on the Canadian site is more like wine or maroon.
You're right. The site is still being updated. Just like last year, the year before that, etc. etc. The changes from 07-08 are listed on tundrasolutions.com as a sticky..also.. try and build a sport coupe on the US site and you can't. The CDN site doesn't list any 4cyl at all. I don't think you can buy a Manual tranny for '08 either.

^^ Actually steve-o, the listing on TS is only for the shop manual updates for TS subscribers - not a list of new features/changes. I downloaded them and there's no comparisons to previous years listed.

If I had about of week of free time with nothing better to do, I could sit down and compare the two years page-by-page... but I'm sure they'll say the same thing. ;)

And yes, only the SLE coupe and convert. are available on the CA site:

from what I can see they added a new color, so they say, but I can't tell what it is since they messed up the pdf. That Crimson Red or whatever maybe? and they made the middle cluster panel a bit wider.. then again when I look at 2004-2006 there aren't many cosmetic changes other than the white cluster panel in the interior..It's probably a boring "not much new" Solara.

2008 Build

I tried to build a Solara at the Toyota website. It only gives you the choice of SE Coupe, SE convertible or SLE convertible.

When they went from '04 to '05 model year, it seemed like the KY factory took a coffee break while some dude pushed the button to switch the year on the VIN plates. They started '04 late so they just kept rolling. The '08s are probably the same deal.

As for the web site... It's called bait and switch. No hurry to correct that. Someone comes in asking for an SE and they can sell the '07 in stock or sell them the SLE '08. Win, win for Toyo!

I had no idea I just bought a car that they are killing :(

2008 Solara is here

Postby redsol » Sun Jul 29, 2007 4:28 am

Just took delivery of a new 2008 Solara SLE Convertible in Absolutely Red with Gray interior, VSA, HID, without NAV from Huntington Toyota - Long Island. Built on 7/17 and delivered on 7/28. The car appears to be exactly the same as the 2007 in everyway. This is my second Toyota from Huntington. Great sales staff with a great service department as well.
